Russians’ consumer confidence falls 14% in January–March
MOSCOW, Apr 8 (PRIME) -- Russians’ consumer expectations decreased by 14% on the quarter to minus 32% in January–March, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement on Thursday.
“The consumer confidence index decreased due to negative dynamics of all its components. The most significant impact was made by a decrease in citizens’ subjective opinion on changes in Russia’s economy and their personal material status,” the service said.
Only 17% of respondents expect positive changes in Russia’s economy in the next 12 months, 1% less than in October–December 2014, while 40% expect a worsing situation, a 2% increase on the quarter.
The share of people with a positive attitude towards changes in the economy during the quarter decreased to 4% from 12%, while the number of people with negative reactions grew to 79% from 55%.
